Debbie Ladd (Lichtman) has worked in the field of education since 1975 and has been writing children’s stories for over 25 years.
While she holds a Masters Degree in administration/supervision and is certified to teach grades 1-12, Debbie has focused her attention on high school English and journalism classes. Labeled a master teacher, she has earned national and local recognition for her work as an adviser in Florida and Oregon and has spoken at conventions around the country. She has also critiqued periodicals for several organizations and was presented with the Gold Award by a national publishing company. Additionally, she has provided in-service training on classroom and student organization skills for both instructors and parents, respectively, and has presented How to Become an Author classes for the parks and recreation department.
Debbie was featured in 2006’s Who’s Who in America and in the 2006, 2008, and 2010-2011 editions of Who’s Who of American Women. She was also profiled in the Journal, a California Central Coast publication.
This author’s books have garnered a variety of accolades. What If? is recommended by Parent magazine and is cited as a Best Bet by Child magazine. Nurse Robin’s Hats received praise from the main headquarters of Locks of Love while Ethan the Ending Eater earned high praise from Midwest Book Review. As an author, Debbie seeks to bring the joy of reading to children. She has read in a variety of venues, including elementary and preschools, at parks and recreation centers, and at Starbucks in conjunction with its literacy program. Debbie has appeared in shows throughout Northern California including the Elk Grove Harvest Festival, Western Festival, and Dickens’ Faire, the Auburn Mandarin Festival, the Fairfield Tomato and Candy Festivals, the To Life Jewish Cultural Street Festival, the Roseville Lutheran Church Holiday Craft Faire Extravaganza, the Placerville Craft Faire, the Sutter Creek December Craft and Gift Fair, the Whitney High School Artisan Craft Faire, the Sebastopol Apple Blossom Festival, the Cornish Christmas in Grass Valley, the St. John’s Holiday Show of Hands, the Folsom Holiday and Spring Fairs, the Napa River Wine and Crafts Fair, the Manteca Crossroads Street Fair, the Lynbrook Craft Fair, the Solano Street Fair, the Lodi Street Fair, the Roseville Strawberry Festival, the Fair Oaks Chicken Festival, the Benicia Fine Arts and Crafts Fair and Benicia Peddlers' Fair, and the Arts in River Park Fair.
Debbie's stories vary in content, from exploring life's lessons to embracing imagination and fantasy. Other stories written by this author include The Fan Sea Waterway, The Clothesline, It's About Time, My Grocery Cart, and Rhyme Time.
The author is putting finishing touches on her next two children's books, My Suitcase and Max Caught a Star in His Baseball Glove. Look for their releases in 2015-2016.
